"CHANGE AND CHANGE ABOUT"

After both losing the council election, Mapp and Lucia are still at loggerheads. Mapp is suspected by the ladies of Tilling (and Georgie) of being "in the family way", and due to her disastrous dealings on the Stock Exchange, is forced to have to sell "Mallards". Lucia makes her an offer that she can’t refuse and they swap houses. On moving into "Mallards", Lucia believes that she has discovered priceless Roman artifacts during renovations, only to be thwarted when her "Roman remains" turn out to be twentieth-century debris. She decides to give a house-warming dinner to allay suspicions – and there the Tillingites discover that Mapp’s condition is really a flight of fancy on her part. A "wind-egg" as Lucia succinctly puts it.
