The following photos taken on
22/2/19 after a brief wash.
Being properly cleaned over
the next few days.
A little bit of red paint
showing where the pressure washer was a too keen.
Not bad for 8 years later.
We have an old dear which has been lurking around our farm yards
are the second owners from new.
A 1981 MB Trac 800 turbo, model type 440. (or actually a grey/red
800, uprated to 900 by Manns the importer)
The front linkage centre arm / ram block is missing – These can
still be bought new. Front linkage and ram are there.
Front & Rear PTO, Linkage and hydraulics. Pick up
hitch, both hook and swinging jaw. Rear security frame for the rear deck. Two
double acting spools and one single to front and rear. Various extras
appearing as we clear the buildings, prior to moving.
We give it a birthday
in MB green livery in 1998, when it got a new clutch and a specialist from
Market Weighton / Hull came up and rebuilt the box. This needs rebuilding again
(thought to be lay shaft bearing) .
It also needs a new clutch master cylinder.
Hasn’t done much real work since, just a yard shunting tractor
for empty new trailers – done 4627 hours from new. - not
quite our normal size, so no kit for it to work with.
Pics were taken about 8 years ago when we were building and
marketing trailers. Rather dirty, however quite tidy for its age.
New tyres in 2011. (fronts were worn, but we changed all
four, so may also still have two more rather good old ones,)
