Raymond was the last wooden butty to be built at Braunston and probably the last wooden working boat built anywhere . . .

. . . she eventually fell into disrepair and the "Friends of Raymond" (Registered Charity no: 1059614)
was formed to restore her. Alas she was in too bad a state and a rebuild was the only option.

This website tells the full story of Raymond.

Click here for a short account of the early years of Raymond and her demise.

Still pictures give a glimpse of the rebuilding. To get the full picture you will need to buy the video.

After the rebuilding there was still much work to be done by local helpers.

Now completed, Raymond takes part in a re-enactment of the Jam 'Ole Run.

Find out why Raymond's livery was changed in 2007.

Where you can see Raymond

Raymond is based in Braunston Marina and is on view to the public - but it is only possible to inspect the cabin by special arrangement (see below). Raymond is also taken to most of the local boat shows/rallies (such as OwnerShips Show, Rickmansworth Show, Crick Show and sometimes further afield, e.g. Shackerstone or Birmingham) when it is possible to have a thorough tour of the boat.

A video, "Rebuilding Raymond", is now available
for just £5.

It lasts for 54 minutes and after giving a brief history of her working days it shows, in detail, all the various processes involved in the re-building.

It is be available from:
1. The Friends of Raymond stand at the events they visit;
2. By post by sending a cheque for £5 + £1.25 p+p (total £6.25) to Raymond Video, c/o Braunston Marina, Braunston, Daventry, NN11 7JH. Please make your cheque payable to "The Friends of Raymond".

All the money goes to the Friends of Raymond.
