1940s Weekends

The 1940s Weekends have become an annual event. The pictures below, taken from various years, give a taste of what goes on. There are many displays of 1940s memorabilia, many people come in 1940s dress (both uniforms and civvies), stalls sell items from those days while various groups re-enact events from the past.

In 2009 the event will be held over the w/e 11th & 12th July. For more information visit the special website.

The demonstrations of cooking as it was in the 1940s are always popular. 
 
We are entertained by many groups including the local Air Cadet
Corps Band . . .
 
 
. . . and a modern form of ENSA.
 
Displays galore . . .
 
 
. . . of many kinds.
 
The "troops" parade . . .
 
. . . and line up for a . . .
 
. . . Memorial Service on Sunday . . .
 
 
. . . and the "civilians" join in . . .
 
. . . too.
 
 
Finally, there is dancing on the lawn to 1940s music.
The event is always enjoyed by everyone and raises much-needed cash for the building fund.
