CLPD 2004 AGM Resolution 5
Unite Against Fascism
This
meeting notes the recent significant growth of the BNP, which now has 17
Councillors across Britain and averaged 17% of the vote in the seats they
contested in the May 2003 local government elections and 20% in by-elections
they have contested since then. The BNP intends to field candidates in this
year’s European, local and Greater London Authority elections on 10 June 2004,
in what they hope will be the biggest electoral assault ever mounted by fascists
in this country.
This
meeting notes the launch of Unite Against Fascism – a broad national campaign
formed to defeat the BNP, uniting trade unions, anti-racists, anti-fascists,
MPs, MEPs, faith groups and all those opposed to the BNP. The TUC General
Council has pledged their support for Unite Against Fascism as have 21 trade union general secretaries.
This meeting recommends CLPD supporters to back the Unite Against Fascism campaign.
