Vampires Of The World

GIERACH (Prussia)
Prussia , the former state of Germany on the border of the Baltic
,
though abolished by the allied forces after WW2, had its own
variation of the Vampire , known as the Gierach or sometimes
called
a Stryz , though similar to most other European Vampires , Red
Eyes ,
long Fangs and stinking to high doe of the Grave..
it was mostly common during the 1600's though some reports
where also made during the mid to late 1700's when the regions
of Silesia , East Frisia and West Prussia were annexed...
the Prussian method for getting rid of Vampires ..though strange
,
came down to just one thing " Confusion " , it was
believed
for some crazy reason that the undead utterly loved "problem
solving "
tradition said that a woollen sock should be put into the tomb
for the Vampire to Unravel , which it would do at the rate of a
single stitch
per year...
( now I'm
willing to believe in a lot of things ..but C'mon , if the
Vampire
goes through a stitch a year ..then its either 1) really
"really" stupid or
2) or has a sock Fetish that's really unhealthy )
apparently they would also use fishing net , and have the Vampire
untangle that , or use Poppy seeds which supposedly put them to
sleep for years ...*shrugs*
a Strange Vampire legend recorded in local Prussian Folk tales ,
tells the story of man who lived in the town of Egwanschiftz ,
who around the early 1600's was tormented to death by a Vampire ,
immediately afterwards the Vampire was caught and the local
population , determined not to have a repeat performance of the
events , decided to burn the bodies of both the Vampire and his
Victim on separate pyres just outside of the town limits ...
