The Museum houses a comprehensive private library with many books and publications about Deal's past. Many of these texts contain valuable information for family history researchers.
The Museum library holds indexed Parish Register transcripts from St Leonards and St Georges Churches (and some from St Mary's at Walmer) as well as original burial records from Deal Cemetery.
Personal access to the private library, by appointment, is free for Friends of the Museum.
If you are unable to visit personally, a volunteer may be able to undertake lookups for you. For non-Friends the cost of this service is £15.00 per hour or part hour. Lookups for Friends are undertaken by volunteers in exchange for a donation (we suggest £5.00 per hour) towards Museum funds.
