I take my test next year. If I pass they
will give me a husband. I'll have no say in who it will be.
I wish it could be Pyramus.
I first saw him when we were out running. He's tall and handsome and has such a
lovely smile. He was picking grapes from the vines on his master's farm.
We took to meeting secretly, sometimes in the apple
orchard behind the school, sometimes near the fig trees. I think we are in love.
They won't choose Pyramus as my husband ... a spartan
may not marry a helot! |
