Closure of the Ship Inn or the Ferry Boat, along with the Queen of Hearts, proposed at the First Joint Committee Meeting of Bullards and Steward & Patteson 29th May 1962, subject to inspection by Mr. L. Canham .

1963

The 60s 70s and 80s the Village was full of fun and excitement with a Carnival every year. Starting with a parade of floats through the Village mainly pulled by tractor and trailers supplied by local farmer. On average about 20 floats be would take part in the parade, starting one year on the Ferry Bank and the next year from Lynn Road and ending on the Playing Field.

This year the Old Jolly Farmers pub closed.

1964

A Year of extreme weather

The Carnival float is made up with the residents of Little London.
Ann Legg, Kath Jupp, Dawn Rowell, Edna Legge, Ben Wilden, Mandy Cuthbert, Gillian Flack, Jane Watson, Kevin Jupp, Andrew Rowell, Eric Whitehand, Julie Smith, Morris Rowell.

New Fen, Southery, water on the land 3 days after a heavy storm. The houses on the left of the picture have gone and 3 new houses built in their place at the top of Mill Road, on the Ferry Bank.

The School bus 1 we had two buses bus1 and bus2, bus1 picked up children from Feltwell Road and part of Southery, Bus 2 picked up Brandon Creek, the Pumping Engine and the rest of Southery to take the Children to Downham Market School.


1965

2nd Prizewinners the keystone cops left A Willimson, Len Gallaway, Wally pye. Right M. Sharpe, M. Porter, Jim Jupp, Smack Everitt.

The Queen of Harts closed this year.

Adele (Giddinds) Thornton Southery Carnival Queen for 1966

A winning float in the carnival a Fen punt Gunner, Smack Everitt and Mick Sharpe. 1st Prize of five pounds.
