GERMAN CHAMOMILE

There are several varieties of the chamomile herb. The two most well known and effective are the Roman and German types. The Roman is the most versatile for home use, although the German contains more of the anti-imflammatory chemical, azulene. Both have very similar properties. Chamomile is a gentle, soothing essential oil, and as with Lavender, is one of the most suitable for use for children-earache and teething discomforts benefit from using this oil. Chamomile is effective for soothing children with tantrums too and it aids sleep if used in a warm bath just before bedtime. Due to the high azulene content, this oil has remarkable anti-imflammatory qualities; combined with Lavender oil, it is even more effective, with the added benefit of antiseptic action. This is synergy at it’s most impressive!
Used in unscented shampoo or conditioner, it brings out the highlights wonderfully in blonde hair.
Chamomile is good for sensitive skins and is often used blended with an unscented face cream or carrier oil for the delicate skin around the eye area.
Chamomile is a sedative and calming oil and it is really excellent for anxiety and insomnia.
Chamomile has no particular contraindications due it’s mild nature but should still be used suitably diluted.
