Coriander
Coriandrum sativum
Spicy
Better known as a herb used for flavouring food in the kitchen, an essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the seeds. It is a generally warming, stimulating oil and it has a reputation as an aphrodisiac. Coriander oil is useful for diarrhea, colic pain, heartburn and intestinal spasm. It is also helpful where there is accumulation of toxins-as in gout and arthritis.
Coriander acts as a stimulant on the circulatory and nervous systems. It also alleviates neuralgia, toothache and the facial pain associated with shingles.
Contraindicated-aromatherapists recommend that Coriander is used with care and in moderation as large quantities can be toxic. The oil can have a stuperous effect as well if these guidelines are not followed. Do not take internally.
Blends well with Cypress, Juniper, Marjoram and Grapefruit oils
