Palmarosa
Cybopogon martini
Floral
Palmarosa is particularly of value in aromatherapy for it’s usefulness in the treatment of various skin problems. The essential oil is distilled from a tropical grass which has long been cultivated in India and used in herbal form in the medicine tradition of Ayurveda to treat fever and infections. Palmarosa essential oil is rich in the chemical geraniol which is a natural antiseptic and bactericide. It is useful for acne, other skin infections, old acne scars and wrinkles. Used neat, it is effective against boils as well-apply with a cotton bud morning and night. Palmarosa stimulates cellular regeneration and regulates sebum production, but it also hydrates parched skin with a gentle, moisturising action.
Blends well with Geranium (which has a similar aroma), Cedarwood, Rosewood/Ho Leaf and Sandalwood.
