Rose Otto

Rosa damascena

Floral

The rose is known as “the queen of the flowers” and it is said:”no perfume without rose”. It’s esquisite scent is steeped in myth and magick, revered by poet and princess alike. It has a sensually, feminine aroma and it works especially effectively on the female reproductive system and is regarded by many aromatherapists as the supreme tonic for women.

Pure Rose Otto essential oil is extremely expensive, but it is also one of the most potent and odiferous, so very little is needed for effect. It is an ideal oil for those of a nervous disposition; it calms and soothes, gives confidence and restores optimism to the downhearted and worried. It seems that Rose works better on women than on men.

It has aphrodisiac powers and is recommended for fridgidity-and to a lesser extent, stress-induced impotence. It is a natural anti-depressant and is of great value in the treatment of P.M.T., menstrual disorders and the menopause.

For skincare, Rose Otto is excellent for all types, but especially the dry and mature skin..Facial massage with Rose (diluted with a carrier oil such as Grapeseed oil), is a luxurious, relaxing experience in it’s own right, but it is so beneficial to the skin that some women swear that regular massage with it keeps them looking younger!

Diluted in distilled water, Rose Otto may be used as a compress for tired, puffy eyes and conjunctivitis. Blended into an unscented toner, this oil helps to keep broken capillaries and fine facial lines at bay.

Rose Otto is helpful for treating the symptoms of hangover; it has a cleansing, detoxifying effect on the liver.

For overnight skincare and a good night’s sleep, gently massage the oil (diluted to 5% in Grapeseed and Vitamin E base oils) under the eye area before bedtime: the scent will lull you to sleep and your skin will feel soft and silky in the morning.

The pure oil is semi-solid at room temperature and below, warmed up it becomes liquid, so rub the bottle between your hands.

Blends well with citrus oils, Frankincense, Ylang Ylang (“the king of the flowers”),Patchouli and Sandalwood. For a luxurious bath soak, blend Rose Otto, Neroli and Jasmine essential oils together.Better still, use on it’s own.
