Rosemary

Rosmarinus officinalis

Green

Rosemary oil is a stimulating, antiseptic tonic. It is invaluable at times when concentration and wakefulness are needed. It has been known for centuries as a brain stimulant as it aids memory and recall. It is an ideal oil to use in a burner when studying for exams. (“Rosemary for remembrance” is an old saying). Another quality of this oil is it’s ability to boost the circulation and to normalise low blood pressure. It is also regarded as being helpful for baldness, falling hair and dandruff if blended into an unscented shampoo or added to the rinse water. On dark hair, it enriches and enhances the colour of the hair.

If mixed with Geranium and Lavender oils for massage, it can ease the symptoms of P.M.T. and fluid retention. Rosemary can also be soothing for conditions such as rheumatism and arthritis. For exhaustion (mental or physical), adding 10 drops to a warm bath will restore alertness and clear thinking. The oil is an effective inhalant for nasal congestion, headaches and bronchitis due to it’s camphorous, penetrating aroma. It is also excellent for after sports stiffness and sprains. It is also useful as a pre-exercise massage, as it conditions, warms and loosens the muscles and joints.
