Speedwork Facilities - Now available!

The warmer weather is upon us (honest) and so Inverurie Academy have laid out their playing fields for the Athletic season.
The good news is that it means we have a 400m track (grass) on our doorstep - all nicely laid out waiting for you to have a blast round some night when speedwork takes your fancy (I know & when hell freezes over I hear you say...)

Its free, & will probably be a discussion point at the AGM whether GRR should have a speedwork night.
Not sure where the track is? click here

FREE Drink at the GRR AGM!

The GariochRR AGM is Thursday this week.
As usual the AGM will be in the meeting room at the Garioch Sports centre, Inverurie.

In a departure from the usual tea & cakes refreshments, we've decided to up the calorific intake to cheese & wine; so please leave the car at home if you are planning having more than a tipple.

Please contact Steve ('the sec') Waites with your nominations for office bearers (go on make his day!) and also nominations for the John Sharp Trophy.

What's Up This Week
Monday Teatime...
The Boston Marathon is live on Eurosport2 TV, starting at 4.30pm.
You just cant beat sitting in front of the telly, feet up munching through a chocolate easter egg watching someone else pounding out the miles - unless youre a snooker fan that is....

---------

Tuesday Evening...
Shakin Brig Run, near Burnhervie.
Meet at Shakin Brig car park at 6.30pm
Click here for more details on this route
Click here for a map of where to meet (use the zoom to find your bearings).

---------

Thursday Evening....AGM Night!
Meet at Inverurie sports centre for a wee run - either round Polnar Dam or for anyone tapering for a marathon this weekend out to Newseat & back.
AGM meets upstairs in the sports centre at 8.00pm.

---------

Saturday 22nd
Club run from Essons car park, Bennachie.
Usually start with the rally route (8m) with plenty of options for going a bit further for anyone with the energy.
Meet at Essons car park at 8.00am

or

if you're over in Fort William for tomorrow's marathon, then why not substitute hitting GRR's traditional 'self-destruct' button (out on the bash the night before a marathon) for something else equally likely to dull the feeling in your legs - a trail run.
The Glen Bash starts at 1400hrs from the Old Bridge Claggan, Fort William.
More details from Dugie MacDonald 01855 841276.

Sunday 23rd

Marathon Race Day!
Good luck to our GRRers Assynt Macleod & Andy Eaton who will be down in the capital for the London Marathon.
Watch out for them on BBC tv's extensive marathon coverage - in the interactive screens, theres usually a camera above the finish line thats good for picking out people.

or

There's the Lochaber marathon in Fort William. Its a slightly lower key affair than the London one, but just as flat and some cracking scenery.
There is a strong contingency of GRRers taking part this year, so good luck everyone!

=============

Have a great week.

Run Long at Taper.
The GarriochRR team.
Aviemore Half
This year sees the first running of the Aviemore Half Marathon; this takes place on Sun 15th October.

That's a wee bit away on the race calendar, but the race route looks abolutely superb with a good trail section.

Race numbers are limited to 500 and entries are expected to fill up really quick.
