GariochRR This Week

May 22, 2006Running despatches from the heart of the Garioch
Announcements
Congratulations to Donna Gray who won last weeks Beach Bum Run at Balmedie.
Donna was first lady home in a time of 28:53.
Donna tells us that part of her prize for being first was one of those slab-sized bars of chocolate (the kind you could slab your garden patio with...or is it only me that has these dreams?).
Too bad Donna is chocolate-intolerant; still I'm sure Chris appreciated your evening's effort.
Well done Donna!...now if you could just enlighten the me on how to become chocolate intolerant, then I'm sure I would see a quantum leap in my running performance.....

---------------

Congratulations to GRR's David Blaine who completed the Fife 50k last weekend in a cracking time of 4:06.

Well done!
---------------

Congratulations also to GRR's Rab Murray who placed 7th overall in the Longside 10k at the weekend.
Rab recorded a time of 38:49.
Rab tells us he was pleased with the improvement in his 10k time & cant wait for the Baker Hughes 10k this weekend to see what time he can get there.
Way to go Rab!

---------------

Congratulations also to Duncan Leel who ran the Dunnect 5k on Sunday. Duncan placed 1st in the U18 age group (9th overall) with a time of 19:06

Congratulations to Duncan's brother Cameron who was also competing (along with what looks like the entire village of Chapel of Garioch judging by the results sheet); Cameron got a time of 23:23.

Well Done guys!

Whew! What a hectic racing weekend!
And quite a few placings too!

Speedwork Facilities - Now available!

Watch this space for more details of GRR organised training nights, hopefully with a qualified coach!.

The warmer weather is upon us (honest) and so Inverurie Academy have laid out their playing fields for the Athletic season.
The good news is that it means we have a 400m track (grass) on our doorstep - all nicely laid out waiting for you to have a blast round some night when speedwork takes your fancy (I know & when hell freezes over I hear you say...)

Not sure where the track is? click here

Sunday 28th

Baker Hughes 10k in Aberdeen is the big running event this weekend.
Here's hoping we get a good club turnout - if you haven't got an entry & fancy a blast down at the beach, then a work colleague of mine has pulled out due to a knee injury - Email me if you are interested.

=============

Have a great week.

Run Long at Taper.
The GarriochRR team.
Dunnydeer Hill Race

The Dunnydeer Hill race is back again this year, as part of the Insch Strawberry Fair fundraising event for Freinds of Insch Hospital.

The event is on 11th June.
Its a 6km race from the grounds of Insch hospital in Insch up to the top of Dunnydeer Hill and back again; total acsent 400ft.

This year we are assisting the organisers by providing the SAF race permit, so all the more reason for the club to be well represented.

So if you fancy taking the kids for a day out with a tub of fresh strawberries & ice cream, and squeezing in a short hill race, then mark your diaries for Sun 11th June!

NB: entry is on the day.
