Leylodge Run Cancelled

Reuben reports that cattle in two of the fields through which his new run passes are not very runner friendly and in the interests of safety we will reshedule for later in the year. For Tuesday's run we will revert to an old favorite and meet at Shakin Brig.

---------------

Congratulations to everyone that took part in yesterday's Baker Hughes 10k at Aberdeen Beach
Despite a horrid headwind along the beach boulevard and a delayed start, not only were GRR well represented, but a few PBs were achieved on the day.
This year the race had a Champion Chip timing system in use; the computer never tells lies so they say...so our commiserations to GRR Chairman Pete Stephen who apparently pipped Steve Waites on the finishing straight and was quoted as saying "that'll teach you for beating me at the Lochaber marathon..."
Trouble was Pete had lined up at the front of the starting line alongside race favourite Frankie Barron, Simon Pride & Co, while Steve was keeping warm in the middle of the pack, so when the chip times wre computed, a slightly different result was published.....

Results were as follows:-
Helen Ewen 52:13
Ruth Wright 58:58
Graham Donaldson 37:09 (PB)
David Blaine 39:21 (aka Tom Brighton)
Rab Murray 39:25
Assynt Macleod 39:44 (PB) (aka Alan McAleese)
Jason Wilson 40:51 (PB)
Bruce Taylor 41:55 (aka Adam Yeates)
Graham Thomson 43:37
Steve Waites 46:19
Pete Stephen 46:22
Mark Hepburn 47:57
Leigh Summers 49:46
Mark Kane 55:20

Great to see so many of our club competing in the local races!
Well done everyone!

Congratulations to GRR's David Blaine who completed the Fife 50k a couple of weeks ago.
We reported his cracking time of 4:06 in last week's despatches; what we didn't realise at the time that this was 1st in the MV40 category, earning David a gold medal and couple of quid prize money (to buy chocolate with, of course....).

Well done David!

Dunnydeer Hill Race

The Dunnydeer Hill race is back again this year, as part of the Insch Strawberry Fair fundraising event for Freinds of Insch Hospital.

The event is on 11th June.
Its a 6km race from the grounds of Insch hospital in Insch up to the top of Dunnydeer Hill and back again; total acsent 400ft.

This year we are assisting the organisers by providing the SAF race permit, so all the more reason for the club to be well represented.

So if you fancy taking the kids for a day out with a tub of fresh strawberries & ice cream, and squeezing in a short hill race, then mark your diaries for Sun 11th June!

NB: entry is on the day.
