GariochRR This Week

Congratulations to our GRR runners in last weekend's Stonehaven 1/2 marathon.
In (ahem) less than ideal conditions, Assynt Macleod knocked 2-1/2 minutes off his PB.
Assynt recalls his day of glory -
"When I left Inverurie it was a warm overcast day. By the time I got to Stoney, it was hurricane Katrina (without the winds). There was so much rain that the start line was under water, and everyone had to be cajoled into standing in water up to their ankles before the starter would sound his horn. Luckily the wet feet did not cause blisters, but I'm sure some folks must have suffered. The run itself was fine until the end, where we had to run through another lake to get to the finish line. It was more like an adventure race to be honest. The marshals were excellent though, giving plenty of encouragement throughout the race route."

Full Results were as follows:-
Assynt Macleod 1:27:26
Graham Thomson 1:34.51
Reuben Hunt 1:51:47

Well done guys!

Well done to all our GRR's who ran the Gordon Way the other weekend, starting from Suie Hill and finishing at Esson's car park.

A great time was had by all, in perfect running weather - check out the photos on the GRR website gallery.

One of this weekend highlights is the Portsoy boat festival - not only is there a cracking 10k race with a great finish on Portsoy harbour quay, but theres loads for the rest of the family to do while your'e notching up that PB. Oh and did I mention the food hall? You just gotta try one of the salmon burgers hot off the barbie or a freshly cooked Arbroath smokie, washed down with a pint of real ale - all alfresco in the basking sunshine.... 10k race starts at 1045, with registration on the day up to 1000.
