GariochRR This Week

October 17, 2006Running despatches from the heart of the Garioch
Announcements
Congratulations to everyone who took part in last weekend's Aviemore Half marathon.
Glorious weather & a great course made for a great weekend's running.
No sign of any published results yet, but I gather that the GRR ladies won the team prize & the men were 2nd team home.

Well done everyone!

Has anyone any thoughts or suggestions for a club race weekend next year?
Eric McWilliam has entered the Gothenburg Half Marathon on May 12th which sounds fun. Well more fun than running 26 miles that's for sure.
Flights from Aberdeen via Copenhagen are currently less than £200 return if booked early.

============================

Bruce and Steve made an executive decision to donate the small profit from the junior relay at bennachie (£25) to Chapel Cheetas without whose help the relay wouldn't have happened. We have received a note of appreciation from the Cheetas who advise the money was used to help with travel costs when taking the club youngsters to a race meeting at Aboyne. The relay was a big success and with the first one under the belt they are looking forward to building on this for next year.
What's Up This Week
Tuesday Evening...
Club Run round Inverurie.
Usual Meeting time of 6.30pm at the foyer in the Garioch Sports Centre.
There's a choice of distances including 5m/6m/7m & 8.6m & even the odd hill for added fun.
GRR also has an arrangement with the sports centre for free use of their changing & shower facilities (just say you are with GRR at reception).
Click here for a map of where to meet (use the zoom to find your bearings).

Thursday Evening...
Club Run round Inverurie.
Usual Meeting time of 6.30pm at the foyer in the Garioch Sports Centre.
Despite the less than ideal running surface, this isnt as bad as it sounds; its fully lit throughout, and at this time of year a clear crisp autumnal evening can be quite refreshing.
Click here for a map of where to meet (use the zoom to find your bearings).

Saturday 21st
Club run from Esson's car park, Bennachie.
Meet at 8.00am for an off-road run on our favourite hill.
With the 'nights fair drawin' in' & the mid-week runs in the dark, for some of us at least, this run becomes the highlight of the week - daylight & no tarmac - a fab combination!

Have a great week
