Latest GRR Gossip

Got a wee note from Dave Kilshaw earlier today (after he received a couple of concerned phone calls last week from friends in the Garioch).
Dave would like to put everyone's mind at rest make it known that he has not had a heart attack/heart scare and is well on the way to getting back to fitness after a cartilage operation on his left knee 4 weeks ago.

Dave went on to say " I don’t know where these rumours came from and though I’ve very much appreciated people’s concerns I’ve got every intention of completing the Cross again next year as well as Le Tour D’Etape!"

As further evidence of Dave's determination to return from injury, he issued the following challenge "My other main sporting ambition at the moment is to beat Pete Stephen in any form of race, which even if I did have a heart condition shouldn’t be that difficult..."

So the gauntlet has been thrown, Pete....
Tune in next week to see if our beloved Chairman will accept the challenge...

NY Marathon Competition
Well, Lance 'youre the man' Armstrong did it yesterday - he completed his first marathon.

"That was without a doubt the hardest physical thing I've ever done," an exhausted Armstrong said after pounding the pavements with some 38,000 other runners.

"In 20 years of pro sports, endurance sports, from triathlons to cycling, all the Tours, even the worst days in the Tours, nothing was as hard as that, and nothing left me feeling the way I feel now in terms of just sheer fatigue and soreness."

I suspect there's quite a few of us who can relate to that sheer fatigue & soreness feeling mate.....

Anyway, he took a wee bit longer than everyone who entered our competition last week thought he would, finishing in a time of 2:59:36 (still a cracking time mind you!).
So well done Ian Cran who was closest with a predicted time of 2:55:55 - your prize is on its way....Ian

Congratulations also to Graham Donaldson, who must have a wee smile on his face today, knowing that based on his time in the Edinburgh marathon earlier this year, he would have beat the mighty Lance with over a minute to spare .....nice one Graham.
