Race Report : Marine Corps Marathon USA

GRR's John Parr has sent in the following race report after his endevours over in the USA:

"On Sunday 29th October I ran in the United States Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC. It was not a good day at the office and I completed the course in 3hrs 29 minutes. Now the excuses….A few days after the Aviemore half (1hr 32min) I had a niggling injury to my right lower leg that was not noticeable when walking. This did improve but was still there at the start of the race. By favouring this at around 12 miles my right foot then started playing up and further on I then developed pins and needles in my right buttock. It was also very windy with a temperature of 63F. Nonetheless I enjoyed myself and met up with some old friends who I had met many years before when I ran in the Royal Navy/Royal Marine Marathon Team. There was just over 34,000 started the race and I came in 903….16th in my age group (55 - 59). Must do better!"

Well done John - don't be so hard on yourself, thats still a great time!
