GariochRR This Week

Aug 17, 2008Running despatches from the heart of the Garioch
Announcements
Greetings fellow runners; the summer holiday/staycation has just flown past and now its time to put the head back to the grind stone - all the more reason to get out and enjoy an run with a bunch of like-minded runners....

The club turnout at some of the runs has been a bit thin on the ground over the summer, so here's hoping we all get inspired by teamGB's olympic success/Paula's gutsy performance at the weekend & get the trainers on more often!

Following up on a couple of suggestions, we are planning to re-schedule the Saturday morning run to the slightly later time of 1000hrs in the hope that more folks can make it along. This will start as of next week (Sat 30th Aug.)

Here's some more details on what's some of the folks at GariochRR have been up to lately.

====================================
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Ythan Challenge earlier in the summer; we had a good club turn-out with finish times as follows:-
Donna Gray 56:03
Gillian Burtwell 1:20:03
Jane Morrison 1:10:28
Rachel Patterson 1:01:11
Ian Cran 1:02:57
Steve Waites 1:04:13

Well done everyone!
====================================
GRR also had a team who took on the Corrieyairack Challenge this summer - a duathlon race comprising of a 17-mile hill section over the historic Corrieyairack mountain pass (2350ft) followed by a 26-mile road section. The intrepid team (a.k.a the 'Bennachie Bashers') comprised of Ian Cran, Nicola Redgwell and Steve Waites who completed this gruelling event in finishing times of 5:20:02, 5:34:36 and 5:40:25 respectively.

Well done everyone!
====================================
Congratulations to GRR's David Blane who took part in the Alford Short Triathlon earlier in the month, finishing in a time of 45:53.

Well done!
====================================
Congratulations to GRR's Rab Murray who took part in the Dyce Half Marathon earlier in the month finishing 1:35:42

Well done!
====================================

Congratulations to GRR's Craig Kelly who took part in the BRG challenge last month, finishing 6th overall in a time of 2h25. For anyone unfamilliar with this race, its a 17.5 mile run from Fraserburgh esplanade to Gardenstown, starting relatively flat and getting seriously steep in the climbs and descents, especially near Pennan.

Well done!
====================================

Congratulations to Craig Kelly who got himself another PB at the Nairn half marathon last weekend, in a perfectly timed run of 1:29:58.
Its a great result, and bodes well for September's Elgin marathon that he's signed up for.
Congratulations also to GRR's Phil Owens and his brother John who also competed at Nairn, finishing in times of 1:48:11 and 1:37:27 respectively.

Well done everyone!
====================================

GRR Club Subs are now Overdue!
