A Better Tomorrow (contd)

The film tells a simple tale of three men, Ho (Ti Lung), Mark (Chow Yun Fat) and Ho’s little brother Kit (Leslie Cheung). Ho is a chief in a triad gang and along with partner Mark run a money counterfeiting organisation, whilst his brother Kit is training to be a police officer oblivious to his elder brothers lifestyle. Ho is contemplating quitting his lifestyle in case it jeopardises his brother’s career, but when his final job goes wrong Ho is betrayed and a rival mobster kills his ailing father. Ho is forced to turn himself in and is sentenced to three years imprisonment thus his secret life is unveiled to his brother who blames him for the death of their father. Angry at the betrayal of his partner Mark decides to take on the double-crossing gang single handed in what has to be the highlight of the film. The infamous restaurant scene is what made Chow a star and one of the coolest killers to grace our screens.
