Bruce Lee Jun Fan was born in San Francisco USA, on
November 27, 1940. His mother Grace Li, on tour with his father Li Hoi
Cheun, a member of a Chinese Opera troupe. During February of 1941 Bruce
appears in his first film, Golden Gate Girl, the family later return to
Hong Kong.
In 1946, Bruce began his profession as an actor, the first of 18 Chinese
movies. Bruce educated at the La Salle Catholic boy's school, from 1952.
Avoids attack by members of rival street gangs, by studying Wing Chun
Gung Fu, with master Yip Man. During 1958, Bruce a talented dancer wins
the "Cha-Cha Championship." Bruce enters Hong Kong's St. Francis
Xavier high school. Involvement in gangs leads to Police harassment, and
following a rooftop battle, Bruce Lee's family, send him to the United
States it is April 1959.
After stopping off in San Francisco, Bruce travels to Seattle, Washington,
Lodging with Ruby Chow, above her restaurant. Bruce enrols at Edison Technical
School, graduating in December 1960. Bruce attracts a group of mixed race
Gung Fu students. By May 1961, Bruce (majoring in Philosophy at The University
of Washington) abandons his studies to build a career as a martial arts
instructor. During this period he met his future wife, Linda Emery. In
July 1964, Bruce leaves Seattle to establish a 'Jun Fan' Gung Fu Institute
in Oakland, California, with like-minded James Yimm Lee. In August 1964.
Bruce demonstrates at the Long Beach Internationals Karate Tournament.
Witnessed by celebrity hairdresser Jay Sebring, who mentions the 'amazing
Chinese guy' to Batman TV producer William Dozier. Bruce later marries
Linda in Seattle.
