Private William F. Grimsley
F Company

Born 1 June 1838 the son of John and Eleanor C. (Profitt) Grimsley

He enlisted on the 9 June 1861 at Camp Trousdale, his brother George K. Grimsley served in the 8th Tennessee Cavalry.

Wounded at the Battle of Perryville (Chaplin Hills), 8 October 1862. He was taken to the Harrodsburg Presbyterian Church at Old Harrodsburg Springs where he was attended to by Emma (Cleveland) Woods and where he died.

He carried a bible that was signed by Pleasant M. Wassom 4 August 1862, also a member of the Regiment.

An account of his death is included in History of Overton County in the Tennessee State Library and Archives.  (Here there is also there is a letter to his mother from the nurse attending him.)

He is buried in the Confederate Plot, Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY.
