Dear David,

Thank you for your letter re “Cairncross - History of a Scottish Family”. My sister and I have been researching the CAIRNGROSS name for several years. During that time we have acquired a copy of “History of a Forfarshire Family” by A F Cairncross 1920 and another book compiled by G T R Cairncross of Filey, Yorkshire, Eng, who has endeavoured to trace present day Cairncrosses. As for the history by B L Cairncross, we have not seen this book but I believe it incorporates the earlier one by A F Cairncross. We would be most interested in a copy of B L Cairncross's book, depending on costs involved.

My Gt. Grandfather David Duncan CAIRNCROSS b. c.1840 son of David CAIRNCROSS and Ann WOODCOCK was a native of Dunkeld and came to Australia c.1860. We have been unable to find any trace of David Duncan CAIRNCROSS or his parents through Scottish records, so any written histories are of help to us.
