Ancestry format. In Jean’s tree, Alexander was born in 1758,
not 1778, and he had a son, William born 1785, which did not appear in
the original tree. In Jun 2015, I was given access to Jean Hartle’s tree on Ancestry. She has done an excellent job, and added many interesting photos and an immense number of Cairncrosses.
Where there is a conflict between Jean’s Ancestry tree, and the information previously gathered, I have decided to trust Jean’s. Accordingly, the following is based on Jean’s information.
