    Learn Bosnian 

    Noun is a word used to identify a person, place or a thing. In Bosnian every noun has a gender: feminine, masculine or neuter that determines its declension.

    i) Masculine (singular) noun ends in a consonant (majority of masculine nouns):Examples:

    Town Grad
    Computer Kompjuter
    Boy Djecak-(dyechak)

    ii) Masculine (plural) nouns end in an "i":Examples:

    Towns Gradovi
    Computers Kompjuteri
    Boys Djecaci-(dyechatsee)

    iii) A great majority of feminine nouns ends in an "a". There are only few of them ending in a consonant:Examples:

    Cat Macka - (machka)
    Girl Djevojka - (dyevoyka)
    Dot Tacka - (tachka)

    iv) Feminine (plural) nouns end in "e" or "i":Examples:

    Cats Macke
    Girls Djevojke
    Dots Tacke

    v) Neuther (singular):Examples:

    Mirror Ogledalo
    Place Mjesto-(myesto)

    vi) Neuther (plural):Examples:

    Mirrors Ogledala
    Places Mjesta

    Declension of Nouns

    1) Masculine nouns
    Nominativ:grad - town
    Genitiv: grada
    Dativ: gradu
    Accusative: grad
    Instrumental: gradom
    Locative: gradu
    Vocative: grade!
    2) Feminine nouns
    Nominativ:djevojka - girl
    Genitiv: djevojke
    Dativ: djevojci
    Accusative: djevojku
    Instrumental: djevojkom
    Locative: djevojci
    Vocative: djevojko!
    3) Neuter nouns
    Nominativ:ogledalo - mirror
    Genitiv: ogledala
    Dativ: ogledalu
    Accusative: ogledalo
    Instrumental: ogledalom
    Locative: ogledalu
    Vocative: ogledalo!

    Note: The definite and indefinite articles ( the , a) are not used in Bosnian, but the sense is usually quite clear from the content
