Our Musical Director

The Musical Director of The Invicta Concert Band is Arthur W Healey, MBE. Arthur comes from a family of musicians. Enlisting as a boy soldier, he first joined the army in 1951 into The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment, his father and two brothers having all served in the regimental band of this regiment.

In 1961 he successfully completed a three-year student bandmasters course at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. He was first appointed Bandmaster of the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) and later the Second Battalion, The Royal Irish Rangers.

Arthur retired from the Army in 1975, and for over twenty years conducted the Hythe Town Concert Band, well-known for its concerts in aid of charities. For this, and his work for the electrical industry, Arthur was awarded the MBE by The Queen in 1995.
