Who We Are......
No N25 is an umbrella group of environmental organisations and
individuals who believe that Norwich’s transport problems will not be
solved by building a Northern Distributor Road.
Participating organisations include:
Norwich and Norfolk Transport Action Group (NNTAG).
NNTAG was formed from the Norwich Road Action Group, founded in 1988,
which successfully campaigned to defeat the construction of a Norwich
inner ring road link which would have resulted in many cherished old
buildings, including a school, being demolished and river views
despoiled.
The Group campaigns for sustainable transport and land use planning in
Norfolk, putting forward alternative solutions based on research.
NNTAG is a coalition of the following 5 environmental groups:
Living
Streets - campaigns for pedestrians and monitors pedestrian
crossings, pavements, access points and rural walkways around the
county.
Norwich
Cycling Campaign - aims to promote cycling as a viable
transport alternative in and around Norwich. Campaigns for
improvements to cycling facilities, cycle lanes, better cycle parking
and integration with trains/buses.
Light Rail
Transit Association - is proposing trams to give seamless
journeys from Great Yarmouth, Sheringham and Diss into Norwich City
Centre and beyond.
Rail
Future - seeks to move people and freight from road to rail by
campaigning for such things as cheap, convenient rail services for
everyone and better links for buses, bikes and pedestrians.
Transport 2000
- is the independent national body concerned with sustainable
transport. It looks for answers to transport problems and aims to
reduce the environmental and social impact of transport by encouraging
less use of cars and more use of public transport, walking and cycling.
Norwich Friends of the Earth - aims to persuade and
empower the general public in Norwich to adopt lifestyles which will
ensure a sustainable future and keep them informed about matters of
local and global environmental importance. They also want to
achieve policy change amongst decision makers.
Norwich Green Party
- the only political party to have adopted opposition to the NDR as party
policy.
Norwich & Norfolk Campaign against
Climate
Change (N2C3) - local affiliate
group of the national Campaign
against Climate Change.
We also have participants from the local Earth First group and
enthusiastic support from Norwich Rising Tide.
And we welcome individuals, so if you're worried about the NDR and want
to add your voice to the campaign to stop it, please get in touch -
