Paddle Steamer Medway Queen is the last Estuary Paddler left in this country,
built in 1924 for the New Medway Steam Packet Company Ltd.
We are working on the introduction of other languages
to keep our friends from other countries informed of our aims.

In
her war service she served as a Minesweeper, and also rescued 7,000 men
at Dunkirk. This ship is historical in many aspects, recognition of her
condition is of great importance. She has earned the nickname of:
"HEROINE
OF DUNKIRK"

We needed
to raise the Partnership Funding of £225.000
we still have £120.000 left to raise,
as part of the Lottery Grant of £1.8 million, to restore the Hull.
This is basically 25% of the required amount to achieve this project for
the hull, being just over 2 million pounds.
The hull was very fragile, little had been done in its life of 83 years to the plates, other than when in service as a minesweeper 1939-45 war.
The
hull is now dismantled, saving what parts that we can, to install into
new hull.
This could well be our last chance to save this Dunkirk veteran, or she
could be lost.
You can still help by buying a plate for new hull.

of plate paid for, from £20 onwards.
