European Astrofest - London 2002 Feb 8 & 9

The 10th Astrofest - sponsored by Astronomy Now magazine, was held at the popular venue of Kensington Town Hall - London on Friday and Saturday Feb 8 & 9.   This is excellent opportunity to meet old friends, peruse the many stands and attend talks given in the spacious lecture theatre.  The ever popular Allan Chapman [Oxford Uni] spoke on Sir Norman Lockyer and Greek Astronomy, Neil Bone [BAA] on Anatomy of Aurora and Michael Rowan Robinson [Imperial College London] on Hubble ST & Size of the Universe and Dark Matter
& Dark Energy.   Welcome newcomer from Seattle, on the SCS Astro stand, were Sirius Optics Inc with their narrow-band filter ingenious tuneable from OIII-Ha.
Some two dozen stands covered everything from telescopes and equipment, books, magazines and software to universities and societies like the
BAA, CfDS, Webb Soc, FAS, The Astronomer .   Local astronomical societies with displays included the Loughton, Crayford, Ewell, Reading, Newbury, Cotswold and Haringey.  Maurice Gavin
