Dec 2004: Finally bought my Canon 300D DSLR lens kit with adjacent sampler via portable 1970 clock-drive. Full frame Orion combo of defocused + sharp image via supplied lens at full zoom eg 55mm f/5.6 [=10mm clear aperture] to ~ mag 9.5-10.0 in 30s exposure via self-timer setting to avoid vibration. This 4m long homemade EOS remote control does all the normal shutter release functions but also latched Bulb exposures >30s - circuit here.
Cropped images via Canon 300D + EOS 33 28-90mm lens at full zoom [16mm clear aperture] for better resolution + going fainter ~mag11.1 . Comet Machholz spectrum shows greenish bias but mainly reflected sunlight in the full range of colours - M42 shows emission of Hb/OIII [blue] + Ha [red].
Nova Puppis [N Pup 04] fades from discovery mag 7 to current [05 Jan 05] mv10.5-11 as AAVSO website - my Canon 300D image in 3x30s exp just records nova [see Toni Scarmato pic 04 Dec 27] - nova's red colour probably helps it record whilst due south at -27o Dec.
