Dec session
-
exposure duration indicates relative transparency
and brightness of star eg fainter stars/ higher res need longer exposures
for a good S/N ratio.
-
Fascinating Wolf-Rayet
stars have carbon [WC] or nitrogen [WN] in peaked blue
emission. More WR stars near end of list
in Cas plus IR star absent from Megastar Sf WR 158 - all taken with a full
moon in east.
-
Mira [omicron Cet] invisible in finder and essentially
an IR object radiating beyond 7000A. Mag 10 star Nf in Mira field
appears K-type like a Ari [Hamal]. SX
Ari and AR Cet included.
-
WR6 low down in CMa is 90o from
the next WR star [#5] in Per with a Wolf
Rayet star avoidance zone between.
PNe PK215-24.1 [=IC418=Spirograph
Planetary] below Orion in Lep has bright WR-like central star and
shows structure in the PNe. Three more variables eg V1030 Ori, omicron
Ori, alpha Ori.
-
Semi-reg variables R Pup and U Pyx at -31o Dec recorded
scraping my southern meridian at midnight! Also FU Ori [FU Ori] and
372 Ori [INA].
-
DO Dra [type DQ] in rare outburst to m11 from m15.
At Dec +71o camera just clears LX200 forks. Reference
star a UMa included.
-
RX Lep, lambda Eri and b
Ori [Rigel] recorded in strong haze [LVM ~ -1!] proof CCD observations
possible in extremely poor transparency.
