vsnet-alert 6468: Nova Sgr 2001 No. 2 [2001 Aug 27]   The position is   R.A. 18h24m46.062s  Decl. -30o00'39.64"  (J2000.0)
The nova was discovered visually by Alfredo Pereira of Cabo da Roca - Portugal on 2001 Aug 26 using 14x100 binoculars.

  2001 Aug 28: WPO image of starfield and lo-res spectrum of this nova extremely low on the southern meridian with a gibbous moon shining direct into optics.  Ha and Hb prominent despite poor seeing - spectra curved by atmospheric refraction; stars vertical ovals!
