2004 May 22/27: These experimental spectra taken with a small prism before a camera lens coupled to HX5 CCD piggybacked on LX200 show promise. Either a 30o prism + 135mm lens or 5o prism + 85mm lens used - there is just sufficient resolution in the latter to define WR stars by their emission line spectra in the crowded Cygnus starfield. Prismatic dispersion scale by Robin Leadbeater. Cool K/M type spectra show a marked fishtail effect in near IR due to lens chromatic aberration absent in hot B/A/F stars. With practice it is possible to estimate the spectral type from the recorded form of the spectra !wpo - lo-res objective prism stellar spectrograph
