Tenerife in Canary Islands - February 2002 - these shots, reduced in size and JPG Optimized to speed download, were taken with a handheld Sony TR840E Hi8 camcorder and captured as still frames via a Hauppauger Win TV Go model 607 PC card.

A brilliant planet Jupiter passed through the zenith at dusk with Saturn and Mars further west.  Sirius soars high with Canopus well clear of the horizon.

Iridium 44 seen on-time via  heavens-above.com and the week began with the new crescent moon low over neighbouring island of Gomera as seen from Puerto Santiago [below left] with a private roof top observatory nearby.

The island is ablaze with blooms and occasional wildlife.

The northern coastline towns of Buenavista, Garachico and Puerto de la Cruz were visited.

We visited Teide Park at 7250ft [2214m] including the Parador Hotel with 13" Dobsonian. Snow blocked roads out to the north and east and was cleared by snowplough - the first we've ever seen within the Park.
