These full colour spectra via the Starlight Xpress MX5c camera show the emission line spectrum of b Lyrae - a hot Be eclipsing binary with a variable spectrum over a 12.936-day cycle as the two component stars [type B7Ve + A8p] orbit around their mutual centre of gravity in near contact with each other.
At the opposite end of the spectral types is giant star a Herculis - cool enough to support methane molecules in its atmosphere giving the banded structure and shown with spectrum broadened via PaintShop Pro and spectrum as captured with intensity trace via Starlight Xpress MX5 mono camera software. A Tessar f/2.8; 50mm fl lens with 1200g/mm grating forms the WPO spectrograph.
