This is my versatile wpo-spectrograph designed around the Littrow principle where a single lens serves as collimator and camera lens.
2003 Jan 23-26 - The spectrograph resurrected using a Pentax/M42 screw f/2.8: 50mm fl Tessar lens plus 1200 lines/mm grating as before. Red is to the left - blue to the right. Performance proved adequate and may be improved with better alignment of components. Ghosting ie reflection off camera lens elements onto spectrograms, seems minimal probably due to the compact and simple 4-element in 3-groups lens construction.
o Cet [Mira] invisible in finder but 60s exp image [disp=3.4A/p] a good match for 1999 SBIG spectrometer image [disp 1A/p] at a fraction of cost! Even without a slit - Saturn still shows the methane bands in its atmosphere but not in the ring system. Relative strength of Ha emission in six emission line stars* recorded plus frozen Ha image of M42*. *see images taken 2000 Nov.
