Venue for this event should have been should have been the usual place,
namely, St Helens RUFC, but on arriving, the place was in darkness, with
no-one there to open up! So, it was everyone in convoy back to the
Almond's residence in Burtonwood.
It was extremely gratifying to see such a large attendance, so a big
'thank-you' to all of you who made the effort, especially those of you who
had travelled long distances.
Apologies from Davinia Wainwright, Paddy McBride (who actually made it
to St Helens, but due to personal circumstances, was not able to come back
to the meeting) and Graham Barry.
This meeting should have included an Ordinary Meeting as well as the
AGM, but because of the circumstances, it was felt that the priority was
the AGM, with any points from the Ordinary Agenda not covered, to be
carried forward to the next meeting.
Minutes from the 1999 AGM duly agreed.
Election of Officers
Dave Hilton proposed Dave Fairhurst to stay as Chairman. Simon Moore
seconded the proposal. Voted in favour unanimously.
Norma nominated Christine Rodgers as Vice Chairman. Terry Almond
seconded the proposal. 14 voted in favour. 5 against.
Norma nominated Steve Pemberton as Vice Chairman. Richard seconded the
proposal. 5 voted in favour. 14 against.
Norma proposed Davinia Wainwright as Treasurer. Roy seconded the
proposal. Voted in favour unanimously.
Terry Mann proposed Norma to continue as Secretary. Steve Pemberton
seconded the proposal. Voted in favour unanimously.
Sean proposed Simon Moore as Competition Secretary. Terry Almond
seconded the proposal. Voted in favour unanimously.
At this point, Dave Fairhurst, almost with a tear in his eye, only
kidding, Dave, thanked Terry Almond, who did not wish to stand again, for
his services as Comp Sec in the NWFTA. Because of Terry's enthusiasm and
initiative, the region has hosted some first class national events,
notably, the Anglo/American Challenge, which was onc of the most popular
events of the Field Target calendar. Everyone joined with Dave in thanking
Terry and an enthusiastic round of applause ensued.
BFTA Representative this is a voluntary position and
entails a NWFTA member attending the BFTA meetings 3 times a year in the
Midlands. Christine Rodgers, supported by Bernard, will take on this role.
If she is unable to attend, or does not feel comfortable after attending
the first meeting, Nosh will continue.
Competition Sub-Committee this is an ongoing unofficial
committee & at the moment consists of our new Comp Sec, Simon Moore,
supported by existing members, Dave Fairhurst & Dave Schofield.
New Committee is now:
- Chairman Dave Fairhurst
- Vice Chairman Christine Rodgers
- Secretary Norma Almond
- Treasurer Davinia Wainwright
- Comp Sec Simon Moore
Fees Steve proposed that shoot fees should rise to £4-00,
making the point that Field Target is excellent value when compared to
other shooting disciplines, where just an entry fee can cost £18-00!
Richard suggested that juniors and pensioners should be given a reduced
rate. After some discussion, it was felt that juniors, but not pensioners,
should be offered a reduced shoot fee. Steve proposed senior fee to be £4-00,
juniors £3-00. Seconded by Dave Hilton. Voted in favour unanimously.
Definition of a 'junior' is under 16 years of age.
Club Fee at shoots Tony Snailham proposed this to stay at
£50-00. Simon seconded. Voted in favour unanimously.
Affiliation fees - Richard proposed this to stay at £45-00.
Roy seconded. Voted in favour unanimously.
ORDINARY MEETING
Consideration of venue for next year's national Grand Prix
logistically, it was felt that there are only 4 clubs in the region that
could host this event, namely, Byley, Clwyd, Oldham and Tawd Vale. Clubs
should think about the event and come back at the next meeting with their
thoughts on the matter.
Winter Series first shoot is on 8 October at Tawd Vale
and is the first one of 6 shoots. Programmes were handed out at Byley,
there will be spare copies available at Tawd Vale.
Presentation Evening let's see this well supported this
year, with moving the event from December, it is hoped that shooters and
their friends & families will not be as busy with Christmas
festivities! Again, the date is Friday 20th October at 8pm at St Helens
Rufc. This venue is being refurbished, so we should see a big improvement.
Trophies Tony wanted confirmation that it was OK to
obtain the trophies for the Winter Season. After some discussion about the
various types, ranging from the little 'ashtrays' to medals, he will price
some different types. The difference this year will be, that as the
trophies are being bought in bulk & issued to all clubs in advance, it
will not be possible to have individual names engraved.
Time & date of next meeting Tuesday 3rd October 2000 at 5pm.
