NWFTA Meeting Tuesday 06/06/2000
Apologies from:- Tony Snailham. Minutes of the last meeting were agreed. 1) Nosh explained that a special meeting of the BFTA had been convened at Grand Prix 3 on 21/05/00 to consider its reaction to the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee Report entitled 'Controls over Firearms', which was published on 13/04/00. (Copy of the minutes attached). 2) Future of the NWFTA Presentation Evening - attendances at this event have been steadily declining and a decision had to be made as to whether we all felt that it was worth putting on this year. It was agreed by all that it would be disappointing to abandon the event, as everyone at the meeting who had been to previous Presentation evenings had thoroughly enjoyed them. After some discussion, in order to boost attendances, this year's date is in October (the 20th), rather than in December. Format will be the same with a quiz and a hotpot supper. the question of whether a nominal charge should be levied will be discussed at the next meeting. 3) NWFTA Winter Series - this series will start in October and consist of 6 shoots, one per month. Each course will consist of 30 targets and the 5 best shoots will count. See list attached for proposed dates and venues. These to be agreed at the next meeting. 4) Update on 3 NWFTA Summer shoots:- Byley - unfortunately, due to lack of entries, Byley have had to cancel this event. Everyone was saddened by this, but we wish Byley the best of luck with future events. Oldham - everything on track, some sponsorship forthcoming with a possibility of more to follow. Clwyd - there was no representative from Clwyd at the meeting, but Terry spoke with paddy recently and everything is fine. 5) BFTA Grand Prix at Byley in July - everything looking good here, this is the first time Byley have hosted a national event and we are confident that they will meet the high standard that has always been a feature of events organised in this region. 6) In the Winter Junior Challenge, there was a tie for first place between Ashley Gavin (Tawd Vale) & Michael Lloyd (Stockport). A shoot-off will take place at the OIdham shoot, Richard will let Michael know & Nosh will contact Ashley. 7) Time and date of next meeting - Tuesday 4th July 2000 at 8pm.
