http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk The North Wales BMD website containing indexes of births, marriages and deaths from 1837 to about 1950.  MGS is a participating society.  Montgomeryshire section now complete.  Searchable free online.
http://www.powyslandclub.co.uk The Powysland Club, Montgomeryshire's county historical society (in fact its coverage is much wider) and the oldest such society in Wales.  Responsible in particular for its journal since 1867 the Montgomeryshire Collections, "for the collecting and printing, for the use of its members, of the historical, ecclesiastical, genealogical, topographical, and literary remains of Montgomeryshire".
http://blpc.bl.uk The British Library printed books catalogue.  A huge online catalogue.  The BL is important for early Welsh books, journals and manuscripts, for which it was the principal repository prior to the establishment of the National Library of Wales in 1907.

http://library.bangor.ac.uk Bangor University Library.  Often overlooked, but important for Welsh material.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue The National Archives, London.  Its catalogue of over 11 million items is searchable online.  Probably used most by family historians for 1st World War and other service records (see classes WO/97, WO/363 and WO/364), but an essential source for much else.
http://www.cwgc.org The Commonwealth War Graves commission.  Its huge database of war graves, including those of Welsh service personnel, is searchable online.

http://www.montsoc.org.uk Site dedicated to the Montgomeryshire Society, founded in 1927 as a social and cultural society for Montgomeryshire people. Main focus is on Montgomeryshire "expats" in London.
