Storytelling in Wales:
Background: Contact the Author |
Croeso, welcomeThis site is dedicated to the storytelling heritage of Cymru, of Wales; to the stories, from ancient myths to urban legends - to the storytellers, and all those who tell stories - and to the history of Wales, real and imaginary. Wales has a long tradition of storytelling, from the wonder tales of the Mabinogion through fireside tales of the Little People and larger than life historical figures, through to the urban legends of our own day. Storytellers have always taught and entertained anyone who would listen; once there were bards entertaining their noble patrons in medieval halls, now contemporary tellers keeping the old stories alive, despite the book and the box. "Amser maith yn ôl ... once upon a time ..." Why not follow that oldest of invitations and enter a world of hud a lledrith, of magic and enchantment, where animals talk, saints curse and dreams come true?
