In effect that all the publications and translations of the electronic texts, archived on this web site, were performed in the former U.S.S.R, all the copyright regulations are subject to the law of the Russian Federation as the U.S.S.R.'s legal successor, exclusively.

As the legal representations and consultations of the publishing houses in question in Russia are not available any longer due to their complete closure, most copyright questions should be addressed directly to either the authors or translators of the texts in question. The successors of the publishing houses were accessible until 1998, but most of them did not survive the Russian economic crisis of August 1998.

They are mostly Progress Publishing House and Raduga Publishers, the successors of Foreign Languages Publishing House in Moscow.

Those files cannot be used commercially.

Since Internet publishing of out-of-print books is regarded in Russia by authors or/and publishing houses as advertisement or promotion, all the Russian language originals may by found in the biggest Russian language text depository on the net " Maxim Moshkov's Library" at http://www.lib.ru/ or other depositories. The texts are placed there with the authors' approval and permission.

All the books represented here were originally published in the USSR in the period from 1930 to 1980's. Most of them are not to be published again in English either because of their strong political context or because of low marketing value - the USSR theme seems to be exhausted in the West and the interest is lost.

I was in some doubt whether to offer for reading certain books representing class struggle and decided in the positive. They are strong monuments to the past and reflect mentality of those years. Besides they are the source of information for historians as well as linguists.

PLEASE, NOTE: If you wish to donate an electronic text of a translated Russian book published outside of Russia and translated by a non-Russian resident, I CANNOT accept such a book under the circumstances. IT IS ILLEGAL.

I would gratefully welcome any comments as well as donations in texts of the books published exclusively in the USSR by the above publishing houses.

In case of any objections from the translators of the works, I would immediately remove the files.

SOME NOTES: To my regret, some editions do not mention the exact date of publication or fail to name a translator. I would appreciate any related information from former employees of the above-mentioned publishing houses on the subject.

The main aim of this collection is to preserve the work of translators and give some information to historians.
