The Ferry Boat Inn

Just past the pumping engine bridge and the river joins the road once again with the Ferry Boat Inn in sight.

At first glance at this picture you may not notice the 3 buses parked in the Ferry Boat car park. These had probably brought fishermen from London. Every Sunday the Great Ouse had 100's of enthusiastic fishermen, fishing from its banks. Look closely and you can see the fishermen spaced every 20 Meters along the banks.
The Ferry Boat Inn is the first place in Southery with the sign for Southery on the River bank. I'm afraid the Inn is no longer open but Denver Cruising Club have a Club House on the river with moorings for their members.
The Ferry Boat Inn did have a ferry as you can see by this picture. Farmers mainly used it, as there is nothing the other side of the river only farmland.
