We are toasting the success of one of our members in one of the country's top competitions. Paul Clifton won the colour print section of the Lincolnshire Photographic Association's prestigious Photographer of the Year competition at Dunholme Lincoln. Paul beat off the challenge of 30 other entrants to secure the title with a superb panel of three prints covering the categories - Portrait (candid) - Photojournalism - Record. The judge, Ray Brammall ARPS, DPAGB. of Doncaster, remarked on the high quality of work on view, saying that he had great difficulty in singling out the best four panels for his final judgement. He said: "But the winning panel, in his view, covered all the necessary criteria. It is a superb panel of prints well presented. Our Chairman Ray Tucker was one of those who just missed out on reaching the final stages, in both the colour and monochrome print sections. His two panels were mentioned particularly by Mr Brammall as being very " near misses for the final pecking order." For the technically minded Paul captures his pictures with a Nikon D100 digital camera and processes them through Adobe Photoshop before printing on a Epson A3 printer. ------- Recently we accepted an invitation from Newark Photographic Society to take part in their annual event for ' The Manor Trophy ' - a five club challenge with each club entering ten prints. We did superbly well to finish in the third spot behind arguably two of the strongest clubs in NEMPF, RB, Lincoln ( the reigning champions ) and Nottingham and Notts. Behind us came local rivals Deeping CC and Keyworth. |
