Easter
and Summer CampsThese are week long stays at Royal Air Force stations
around the UK.
The standard program on such a camp will always involve
air experence flying
and shooting on a 30m range. It is one of the best opportunities
to get some extra weapon handling practice and be tested by the TEST SNCOs
(Training and Evaluation Support Team Senior Non-Commissioned Officers).
On most camps there will be plenty of opportunities to visit different sections on the base to get a feel for the variety of jobs carried out by the RAF including the RAF Police Section, Dog Section, Fire Section, Engineering Wing.... At least one day you can get work experience where you spend the working day with a single section.
On many camps you will also get to fly in different aircaft
including helicopters such as Chinnooks
and Seakings
as well as the larger aircraft such as the C130 Hercules
.
Usually 10-15 cadets from RAF (CCF) Sections at four schools are accomodated in barrack blocks. Cadets even get the luxury of a single room or are required to share. On some summer camps however large tented accomodation is sometimes used.
