Following recruitment cadets are very quickly introduced
into CCF life by being trained to a standard where:
Q. If I join the CCF will I have to go to War?
A. NO. Absolutely not. You will be joining a cadet organisation which is funded by and NOT part of the Armed forces.
Q. Do I have to join the Army or RAF sections?
A. NO. Unlike many schools which have a CCF joining the St.Ignatius CCF is completely voluntary. However once you have joined, we do expect you turn up every parade night.
Q. I'm part of the Rugby, Football, Basketball, Cricket team. Will I be able to join Cadets?
A. YES. The training for these teams takes place after school on Tuesdays to Fridays so that clashes don't occur. In circumstances where extra training is required for exceptional matches (quarter, semi's or the final itself) you will be excused from cadets if you ask in advance of training.
Q. I do a lot of studying. Will Cadets affect my school work?
A. No. Absolutely NOT. We have had many cadets who have achieved excellent academic results. Two of the most recent Head Boys have been RAF cadets both of whom did very well at A'level standard. It is often thought that life in the cadets helps not hinders academic success.
Q. By joining the cadets will I have to join the RAF when I finish?
A. No. The cadet force gives young boys (and girls) the opportunity to experience what life can be like in the armed forces without any obligation. Cadets gain valuable experiences in leadership teamwork and self reliance supported by the RAF.
