In the
second year as a cadet in the RAF section of the CCF the main focus of
the training is to develop leadership skills.
-
This is an important part of
the training especially if you wish to earn a rank of Junior Corporal through
to Flight Sergeant and maybe even Warrant Officer! Top
-
The training follows the example
of the National Air Cadet Leadership Course (ACLC)
which is run every year at RAF Stafford for cadets from both the ATC and
CCF.
-
Both Fg Off Henderson and Flt
Lt Surry have both been Directing Staff on this course for a number of
years hand have a wealth of experience between them.Top
-
The
year will start with a drive to complete the Self Reliance phase of the
part 2 training. This is where cadets are taught how to put up a
tent, map read, use a compass and even how to cook!
-
The ultimate aim is for a group
of cadets to walk (with kit) from the school to St. Margrets and beyond.
Camp overnight, then carry on walking the next day. This is likely
to be the furthest some will have ever walked.
-
Cadets are not supervised, they
can get lost all by themselves. Two senior cadets will be in the
group to ensure no-one does anything reckless and there will be regular
checkpoints with a safety vehicle and officer.
-
This expedition has proved useful
in proving that a little self reliance can go a long way.Top
-
Success
in the HQ Air Cadets Part 2 examination will enable you to be put forward
for a Gliding
Scholarship and entry into the ACLC.
-
Examination results are also
used used in assessing anything you may wish to apply for in the future.
-
The exam itself is a 50 question
multiple choice paper covering topics as diverse as the Principles of Flight
to Airframes to Navigation.
Don't worry you won't have to
be in the A'Level physics class to pass this test! Top
This year requires allot
of commitment !
