WELCOME TO THE ISLINGTON SOCIALIST ALLIANCE WEBSITE!

Islington Socialist Alliance was set up last spring to give a voice to working class people in Islington who are fed up with new Labour's betrayals.

We believe that by putting profit before profit and toadying up to big business, Blair has deprived working people of political representation. We stood Cecilia Prosper, in the elections from the Greater London Assembly elections. Cecilia did very well getting 7.2% of the vote.

Islington Socialist Alliance brings together campaigners who have been active on a range of issues locally and nationally.

We have been involved in the fight to stop cuts in local council services, in the voluntary sector and in education. We have been part of the campaign to stop the new Arsenal stadium and to Dump the Dump. We have supported the postal workers in their battle keep open the local sorting office. Together with others we have worked to defend asylum seekers, to stop the sell off of council houses and to keep the tube in the public sector.

We want to give a voice to all those people who are fed up with New Labor's broken promises. We want to see an alternative to Chris Smith, Minister for the Dome Disaster which is why we are standing Janine Booth in Islington South and Finsbury.

Our general election platform will include:

The Islington Socialist Alliance one of over 60 Alliances across England and together we intend to stand more than 50 candidates in the General Election. We also work in co-operation with Alliances in Wales and the Scottish Socialist Party, who have one member of the Scottish parliament, Tony Sheridan
